This month the first session of the 110th Congress begins with Democrats in control of both chambers for the first time since 1994. Control of Congress is a victory for the party, but it’s also a victory for organized labor. Will unions get what they want? This month we look at the minimum wage. Next month Labor Watch will look at labor’s push for automatic recognition of card-check organizing, the slowdown in international trade liberalization and union efforts to gain better treatment from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
