$100M Kirby McInerney Fee Bid In Citi Case Meets Skepticism

Law 360 reports on a case where Ted Frank objects to the plaintiffs' lawyers fees which overcharged the class members they represented.

Tort reform advocate Ted Frank and a small group of other objectors have tried to discourage the court from signing off on the fee request.

Frank, a Citigroup shareholder, succeeded in a bid to see some Kirby McInerney billing records following the settlement announcement last May.

In recent weeks he has repeatedly attacked the firm over the fee issue, saying it overbilled for the work of low-wage contract lawyers it hired to do the lion's share of document review, and tallied about a third of its lodestar hours after the parties agreed in principle to the settlement but before the deal was finalized.
