Alaska Air, Virgin America Face Bumpy Antitrust Ride
CEI Fellow Marc Scribner speaks to Law360 about a proposed merger between Alaska Air and Virgin America:
“If you look at their route maps, in terms of the risk of competition, I don’t see that being much of a factor,” said Marc Scribner, a research fellow at D.C. think tank Competitive Enterprise Institute. “It would have a much more robust network and would be able to compete with the legacy carriers on much more equal footing."
"It’d be unfortunate [if the DOJ were] to allow these past legacy carriers to combine and then to deny this one — I just don’t see a case to do that from the perspective of the regulators,” Scribner added.
