Big Solar Projects Ignite Backlash

From Eric Obernauer’s article in The New Jersey Herald:

As for the subsidies now received by fossil fuel industries, Brian McGraw of the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a free-market think tank, states that many of these are not really “subsidies” that involve funneling industries money but are instead the same general exemptions in the tax code available to other industries for depreciation, research and development. By contrast, he states, “the solar industry as we see it today isn’t likely to exist without subsidies.”
