Drone regs attract a little praise, lots of prodding
Politico reports on the FAA's drone regualtions and quotes Marc Scribner on the final rule.
Marc Scribner, a transportation expert at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, takes issue with the fact that the agency laid out the interim final rule without going through the steps to seek public feedback required for such a regulation. “The FAA's claim that complying with notice and comment requirements for small drone registration regulation is ‘impracticable and contrary to the public interest,’ so that it can therefore ignore them, is as predictable as it is absurd,” Scribner said. “In issuing this unlawful interim final rule, Secretary [Anthony] Foxx and Administrator [Michael] Huerta are practically demanding litigation.”
