Experts say Obama’s overtime rule will hit taxpayers, economy hard

“This extra income will not only mean a better life for American families impacted by overtime protections, but will boost our economy across the board as families spend their hard-earned wages,” the White House said.

But it will come at a huge cost to many of those families, the taxpayers who will be forced to fund it and a U.S. economy that will take a beating because of it, regulation trackers predict.

“The Obama rule puts a huge cost and regulatory burden on employers, who will face pressure to cut back on benefits and full-time employees,” Trey Kovacs, policy analyst with the Competitive Enterprise Institute told USA Today.
