Fewer Than 5 Percent Filed Claims in Controversial Class-Action Case

Arkansas Business discusses class action settlement claims with Center for Class Action Fairness's Ted Frank. 

Usually the percentage of claims made in a class-action settlement is low, according to court filings by Ted Frank, director of the Competitive Enterprise Institute’s Center for Class Action Fairness in Washington.

“If we generously assume that the claims rate in this case is around 20 percent …the class will receive about $0.7 million,” Franks said in a court filing in the case. The actual percentage was 4.3 percent, according to the results revealed in Matthews’ letter.
