In-House Attys Fire New Salvo In Battle Over Law Firm Fees

Law 360 reports on Ted Frank's objection to the Citigroup settlement in which lawyers over-billed the class members they represented.

The objector, Ted Frank, a well-known tort reform advocate, has accused the firm of over-billing shareholders by pumping up billable hours, and failing to note in their fee request that many lawyers working on the case were low-wage contract attorneys hired through vendors to do document review and coding. These lawyers, some of them with very limited legal experience, were then included in the fee request at rates of up to $550 per hour, Frank said.
