Rollbacks on tariffs for food could bring shoppers some relief on prices

“The positive experience that consumers will see with price reductions on their food might encourage the administration to apply that same lesson a little more widely — tariffs raise prices — and the fact that they’re rolling back tariffs on food is them admitting that,” said Ryan Young, senior economist at the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
When asked by reporters if he would make more changes on Friday, Trump downplayed the need to continue reducing tariff rates, which have spiked to highs not seen since the 1930s.
