The Pfizer backlash

Politico reports on CEI's complaint filed with the IRS on the Institute of Global Enviornment and Study and its founder Jagadish Shukla.

The conservative group, teaming up with the Competitive Enterprise Institute, is asking the IRS today to take back the tax exemption of a group pushing for a federal racketeering investigation into ExxonMobil. The group claims that the oil giant has deceived the public on climate change.

Cause of Action and CEI charge that IGES “exists to illegally benefit Shukla and his family.” CEI’s Sam Kazman said that Shukla has “been pulling a fast one at taxpayer expense” and called his group’s tax-exempt status as “groundless” as his efforts to stir up a RICO investigation.
