Trump Targets Pair Of Obama-Era Green Rules To Boost Oil, Coal

The Epoch Times cited CEI’s Senior Fellow Marlo Lewis on EPA proposed roll back of Obama-era policies.

The Trump administration took aim at two Obama-era environmental policies on Dec. 6 to boost the oil and coal industries, proposing to open up a wildlife habitat to drilling and mining and remove hurdles to new coal-fired power plant construction.

Marlo Lewis, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, applauded the EPA move.

“The standards effectively ban the construction of new coal power plants—a policy Congress never approved and would not pass if put to a vote,” Lewis said in a statement. “By lifting the ban, EPA’s proposal will help restore the separation of powers and safeguard affordable energy for American consumers.”
