Virgin Islands relents on think tank subpoena

Washington Examiner reports on CEI's response to the subpoena they recieved which is an attack on their free speech. 

The U.S. Virgin Islands attorney general withdrew a subpoena of the Competitive Enterprise Institute think tank that he was investigating as a part of a deeper look into what Exxon Mobil knew about climate change.

U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General Claude Walker filed a notice of termination in the D.C. Superior Court for the subpoena for the Competitive Enterprise Institute on Friday, according to court documents. Walker filed the subpoena to try to get information about Exxon Mobil's donations to the think tank between 1997 and 2007.

However, the subpoena was criticized as an attempt to punish the think tank for holding a different view of climate change. Last week, the think tank asked the court to sanction Walker for making the case an ideological fight and not based on legal merits.
