White House Should Refrain from Taking Executive Action against Tech that Violates First Amendment Rights

According to a new Politico report, the White House is considering an executive order to “address allegations of anti-conservative bias by social media companies.”

CEI research fellow Patrick Hedger said:

“The First Amendment protects speech and association of individuals and private institutions by restricting government, not slapping an ‘S’ on its chest and a cape on its back. The White House should refrain from taking executive action that violates First Amendment.”
