Online Event

Tuesday, February 8, 2022

Until recently, U.S. policymakers recognized the promise of digital assets. But as cryptocurrency, particularly stablecoins have emerged as a competitor to central banks, financial regulators have adopted a newfound urgency to adopt central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) as a public alternative. In a new study, “Central Bank Digital Currencies Threaten Global Stability and Financial Privacy,” CEI adjunct fellow Paul H. Jossey argues CBDCs will fail to achieve the policy goals promised by proponents, and pose serious risks to the financial system.

Please join CEI for an online discussion about the risks of CBDCs featuring remarks from Co-Chair of the Congressional Blockchain Caucus and crypto advocate Rep. Tom Emmer (R–MN), in conversation with CEI’s Iain Murray and Paul H. Jossey.

Rep. Tom Emmer (R–MN)
