CEI Responds to EPA and DOT Revisiting Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards

William Yeatman of the Competitive Enterprise Institute applauded today’s move by the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Transportation to “revisit Obama-era standards on greenhouse gas emissions for 2022 to 2025 model cars and light trucks:”

“Today’s announcement from the EPA and DOT that it will revisit greenhouse gas emissions standards for cars and trucks is a win for consumers and all Americans who care about good governance. The EPA led the auto industry to believe the agency would review these standards through 2017 and into 2018, and today’s announcement is a fulfillment of that promise. Secondly, this now gives the public an opportunity to lend its input on the rules – something the Obama administration failed to properly do. For consumers, today’s announcement provides an opportunity for the government’s assessment of emission standard to catch up to actual consumer interest in large cars and trucks.”
