The Competitive Enterprise Institute is pleased to welcome writer, communications expert, and political scientist Joshua Bandoch as a Research Fellow in its Center for Advancing Capitalism. The Center was established by CEI’s founder and longtime president Fred L. Smith, Jr. in 2013.

“Josh Bandoch’s passion and esteem for the institutions of a free society will complement the work we’ve done for almost forty years at the Competitive Enterprise Institute,” said Research Fellow Richard Morrison. “We know free markets and limited government together produce a healthy, prosperous, and just society. Josh’s expertise will help us illustrate that good news for all audiences.”

“Too many policies that would advance freedom and prosperity stay on the shelf because we do not communicate them effectively and build support,” said Bandoch. “I look forward to joining CEI’s efforts to advocate for policies that help people succeed and build financial security.”

Bandoch’s research project will develop strategies to communicate how the principles of personal, political, and economic freedom benefit everyone, especially the least well-off.

Bandoch earned a Ph.D in political science from the University of Notre Dame. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the Political Theory Project at Brown University and the American Democracy Forum at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has served as a speechwriter for cabinet and service secretaries and as a strategic communications consultant. He is the author of The Politics of Place: Montesquieu, Particularism, and the Pursuit of Liberty (University of Rochester Press, 2017).
