House Democrats’ Climate Bill Will Restrict Domestic Energy Sources and Raise Americans’ Utility Bills

House Energy and Commerce committee Democrats today introduced a new bill, the so-called CLEAN Future Act, aimed at restricting the use of reliable energy sources and mandating unreliable alternatives.

Director of CEI’s Center for Energy and Environment Myron Ebell said:

“House Democrats’ so-called Clean Future Act will impose onerous regulations on the production and use of the most reliable energy sources, raising energy costs and destroying jobs. While it clearly fits with the Biden agenda to punish the most affordable energy sources and reward unreliable technologies, it will particularly harm those who can least afford it and cause long-term economic decline.”

CEI Senior Fellow Ben Lieberman said:

“After introducing this bill, Chairman Pallone should change the name to Committee against Energy and Commerce. It is hard to imagine a bill doing any more to restrict domestic energy sources, raise utility bills, and kill American jobs.”
