Jody Clarke serves as
Vice President for Development at the Competitive Enterprise
Institute, overseeing fundraising
efforts for the institute. Clarke joined CEI in March 2001 as vice president for
communications, a position she held until December 2007. In that role she led
the media relations efforts for the institute, supervised the publications
department and the Warren T. Brookes Journalism Fellowship, and was also involved in CEI’svalues-based communication
project. She oversaw
the production of CEI’s Field Guide for
Effective Communication, which was first published in 2004. Before entering the public policy world,
Clarke was a TV news anchor and reporter for nearly 12 years. She spent
five years of her broadcast journalism career as the main anchor at the Fox
affiliate in San Antonio,
TX. Before that, Ms. Clarke was a
weekend anchor and reporter at the CBS affiliate in Charleston, SC, where she
had the opportunity to travel to Romania to report on the country’s orphanages and medical system. Her
reporting there won her a first place Associated Press award in South Carolina. She is
also the recipient of a national Clarion award from the Association for Women in
Communications for CEI’s ongoing public relations efforts regarding the safety
risks of the federal government’s fuel economy standards program. Clarke has a
degree in journalism from Texas A&M
University.
