Ryan Radia Talks to BBC Radio about Google Antitrust Charges

The European Commission brought antitrust charges against Google in a formal complaint on April 15, 2015, setting its sights on the company’s search engine dominance and its linkage to certain shopping and travel websites. Competitive Enterprise Institute technology policy expert Ryan Radia told the BBC why the charges amount to a solution in search of a problem. Radia predicts that Google will be able to show competition is thriving, that whatever dominance Google has in search isn’t crushing rivals, such as Yelp and Amazon. However, if the Commission finds Google guilty of antitrust, the company could be penalized, perhaps with a large fine.
