While the administration has made great progress on issues like regulatory reform and energy policy, the current White House has also embraced policies that—and employed advisors who—are disastrously mistaken on international trade. We are now in a position in which the future of both longstanding (NAFTA) and proposed (Trans-Pacific Partnership) major trade agreements are in flux.

Our friends at the Cato Institute, however, are on the case and recently recorded a Cato Connects video on NAFTA and the Trump Tariffs featuring Trade Policy Analyst Simon Lester, Visiting Scholar Inu Manak, and Director of Multimedia Caleb O. Brown. It’s an excellent antidote to the economic nationalism masquerading as smart economic policy.
