Activists and workers protest minimum wage and working conditions at fast food restaurants across Boston
Critics of the fast food protest movement say that the minimum wage was never meant to support a family and that the government should not involve itself in how much businesses pay employees. The Cato Institute’s Michael Tanner, a fierce critic of the movement, notes that only 3 percent of workers over 25 make the minimum wage. The Competitive Enterprise Institute, a free market think tank, said that “raising the minimum wage does more harm than good.”
