POLITICO’s Morning Transportation cites Senior Fellow Marc Scribner’s fourth annual report on state barriers to vehicle platooning.
PLATOONING TECH HINDERED BY STATE LAWS: States need to update old laws to enable truck platooning technology, argues the free market think tank Competitive Enterprise Institute in a new report. Many states’ following-too-closely statutes “outlaw many automated vehicle platooning applications,” writes Marc Scribner. Twenty states have taken some action to allow platooning, the first being Utah in 2015. You can read the report, which breaks down the existing laws in every state and how they could be amended, here.
