The Competitive Enterprise Institute will file an amicus brief this morning in Janus v. AFSCME, the Supreme Court case that seeks to outlaw public sector unions’ collection, from non-members, of fair share fees to cover their portion of collective bargaining costs. The state worker challenging fair share fees, Mark Janus, argues that being forced to pay fees to a union he chooses not to belong to violates his First Amendment rights.
