Conservative Groups Praise Trump’s Decision to Exit Paris Agreement

Washington Examiner covers President Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement.

Conservative groups praised President Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement, with many saying leaving the climate pact would put American taxpayers back in control.

Mike Needham, CEO of Heritage Action for America, said the president’s move is the “right course of action.”

Needham praised Trump for “not succumbing to pressure from special interests and cosmopolitan elites.”

“Withdrawal from the agreement marks a critical step in unraveling former President Obama’s destructive legacy,” he said. “Not only did Obama make this agreement without approval from Congress, but in doing so he handed more control of America’s energy to foreign officials. President Trump’s decision is a win for both his administration and the American people.”

Myron Ebell of the Competitive Enterprise Institute, who led Trump’s transition team at the Environmental Protection Agency, criticized the Paris Agreement and said Trump is “leading the world toward a brighter future.”

“The Paris Climate Agreement promises no measurable climate benefits at an incredible economic and political cost to Americans,” he said. “By getting out of the agreement, President Trump is leading the world toward a brighter future as low energy prices over the long-term will benefit consumers and energy-intensive industries.”
