Politico's Morning Shift highlights CEI's labor policy agenda for the 115th Congress.
The Competitive Enterprise Institute, a right-leaning nonprofit, released its policy agenda today for the 115th Congress. The wish list includes an overhaul to the 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act. Under the plan, DOL couldn’t change exemptions from wage and hour requirements without congressional approval. CEI also seeks legislation to “clearly define the parameters of exempt workers” and “streamline the definition of employee across federal statutes.” CEI wants Congress to strip the NLRB of its authority or, alternatively, to pass a bill adding a sixth member to the board to divide it evenly between Democrats and Republicans.
