Leadership Change-Ups At FAA
Politico cited CEI’s Senior Fellow Marc Scribner on CEI’s adjunct fellow Frances Smith appointment to DOT.
CONSUMER RETORT: The Competitive Enterprise Institute shot back at criticism of its adjunct fellow Frances Smith, whose recent appointment to a DOT aviation consumer protection committee has been targeted by consumer advocacy groups. Marc Scribner, a senior fellow at the think tank, wrote in a blog post that CEI’s “primary aim with respect to aviation policy is protecting the massive gains to consumers that came from the bipartisan Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 and encouraging further pro-consumer reforms.” The consumer groups argue CEI is pro-business and aligned with airlines, which already have a representative on the committee. But Scribner noted that the group directly opposes airlines on issues including the passenger facility charge.
