The logic behind the pipeline: Snatching up Beuse was widely hailed as a good hire for Uber. “Hard to think of a better person to lead efforts to rehabilitate Uber’s AV program,” tweeted Marc Scribner, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. Auto Alliance spokesperson Gloria Bergquist said it makes sense that “new players in the auto sector” would turn to NHTSA as they “are quickly trying to develop the human resources and expertise that they need” and that it’s “a good sign when they recognize that they need that expertise.”
