Think Tank Sues Virginia For Docs Showing Extent Of Bloomberg’s Climate Crusade

The Daily Caller cited CEI’s Senior Fellow Chris Horner’s lawsuit against Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring.

A Washington, D.C.-based think tank filed a lawsuit Wednesday claiming Virginia’s attorney general office is hiding documents showing the extent of the state’s role in an attorney general-led climate crusade.

Competitive Enterprise Institute’s Chris Horner is suing Virginia for repeatedly denying requests for information supposedly confirming the state’s authority to hire privately funded lawyers. Horner argues state law only allows assistant attorneys general to be paid through taxpayer expense.

“[I]t is inconceivable that the top legal office for the state, if it looked at the law, could conclude there are no legal impediments to a privately funded Special Assistant Attorney General in Virginia,” Horner told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “And it’s equally inconceivable the top lawyer for the state would just say that, without looking at the law.”
