CEI Statement on Senate Confirmation of Neomi Rao to head Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs
Today, the Senate voted to confirm Neomi Rao as Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), the office tasked with the critical job of reviewing executive branch regulations. Competitive Enterprise Institute President Kent Lassman praised the decision:
Neomi Rao is a leading expert on political accountability for regulatory agencies, an expertise urgently needed as the nation faces nearly $2 trillion in annual regulatory burdens. She will help provide a check on the growth of a regulatory state that has proven costly, unresponsive to citizen complaints, and, too often, unconstitutional in its dealings. Rao will bring a level-headed approach to evaluating the regulations that impact our lives most.
