The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation will today hold a hearing to consider the nomination of Dr. Nancy Beck to be chair of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The hearing will be held today at 2:30pm and if confirmed, Dr. Beck will serve a seven year term as chair of the commission.

CEI Senior Fellow Dr. Angela Logomasini said:

“Dr. Nancy Beck’s impressive credentials make her well suited to lead the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, or to any federal post that would benefit from a thoughtful person with a science background. Beck has played a role in trying to prevent misguided agency actions that promise to do more harm than good and is willing to take courageous decisions by applying science, even when those decisions upset big-government activist campaigns. Consumers need an advocate who will focus on science, regardless of the political implications, and Nancy Beck will fill that role very well.”
