Coalition Letters Opposing E-Verify Mandate

Coalition Letter to the House (PDF), Coalition Letter to the Senate (PDF)

CEI has signed coalition letters to both the Senate and the House of Representatives opposing H.R. 2164, which would mandate the use of the bureaucratic E-Verify system for employers to confirm a large amount of personal information about their employees. This system would impose an unnecessary burden upon every business and would be an enormous risk to individual privacy. This large database of citizens’ personal information would not only be at risk of data hacks, but also conflicts with the proper limited role of government in society.
